GUIDES

How we check sources

A clear route from a statement to the information behind it.

Start with a traceable source.

A game profile should make it possible to follow a factual statement back to its source. Provider materials can establish what a developer publishes about a title. They cannot, on their own, verify an operator’s conduct or a reader’s individual experience.

Keep different claims separate

We distinguish published product information, supplied artwork and editorial interpretation. An illustration is not evidence of a game feature. A promotional statement is not an independent result. If a detail has not been verified, we leave it unconfirmed.

Check the title and version

Similarly named titles can be separate releases. When using a source, check the exact product name and whether the statement applies to the edition being discussed. Dynamic information should be checked again before it is relied upon.

Make corrections visible

If you find an inaccurate statement or a missing source, send the article URL and an explanation through our correction form. Reports are stored for editorial review. Material corrections should explain what changed rather than silently replacing the original claim.
